Feral Encounters
Feral Encounters, a weekend by the lake.
Feral Encounters is a cross-disciplinary community-building weekend exploring dance and performance art practices devoted to sensorial approaches to other-than-human persons1. Lake Studios Berlin will host the encounter, providing a framework for collective speculation (@lakestudiosberlin). We wish to share knowledge, experiences, and life-affirming practices with fellow artists, choreographers, dancers, activists, journalists, critics, and scientists in the field.
Camila Nobrega, Jared Gradinger, Promona Sengupta, Roni Katz, Siegmar Zacharias, Yuni Chung (Chōri Dance Collective) and Catalina Fernández & Alex Viteri Arturo (Violeta) will share provocations, inviting us to delve into specific aspects of the overarching theme. The full schedule and artists' bios will follow soon.
PLEASE, FILL UP OUR OPEN CALL before August 31st SO WE CAN PLAN FOR YOUR VISIT.
Feral Encounters is organized by Alex Viteri Arturo and Shuntaro Yoshida (MaCA), associates at BAS. Thanks to the support of Lake Studios Berlin, invited artists, friends, and lovers. Get in contact at [email protected].
Feral Encounters is part of the BAS colloquium series gardens & plots: Sites of Interconnected Research, which brings together four artistic research projects at the UdK Berlin that evolve from (urban) gardens and plots as sites of research and collaboration with both plants and humans.
Place | Lake Studios Berlin /Scharnweberstraße 27, 12587 Berlin DE
Date | 9-10.09.2023
Support | Lake Studios Berlin, Kommission für künstlerische und wissenschaftliche Vorhaben (KKWV)

Artistic Practices at the End of the World
For over a decade, philosophers, environmental and social activists, artists, and scientists have urged us about Earth's rapid deterioration. Andean philosophers affirm we are experiencing a Pachakuti. In Quechua, the word refers to a time of confusion leaking into the redressal of balance. How might artistic practices offer repair and relief to the massive extinction of species? This class embraces the concept by turning to artistic practices attuned to the ongoing transformations.

"Turn off the House lights," a midnight transmission
In this episode, we'll transmit from Cordillera's garden in Berlin. Hosted by their artists-in-residency program, we'll gather around a bonfire to watch the sunset. Simultaneously, we will anchor through sound waves into Tokyo's midnight. Together, we'll meander—something like taking a walk while chatting on the phone with a loved one or sitting with a group of friends to listen to a thunderstorm.
Place | Cordillera's dance studio /Wilhelminenhofstraße 68/68a
Date | 04.03.2022, 10:15am EST / 4:15pm CET / 12:15pm JST.
